Our Journey

Back in 2015, two University of Alberta industrial design graduates thought: "We miss being in the shop, let’s go build something."
That curiosity led us to build our first CNC machine in a garage on 126th Street (that's where our name comes from). Not because we wanted to start a design firm, but because we wanted to understand what kind of things we could make.
Our exploratory projects got some attention and we reached out to our network to find new projects - that’s when we were asked to create an acoustic privacy pod. That’s when everything changed.
We made the first and second prototype of what would become the Loop Phone Booth, doing both design and manufacture in-house. Solving our own production problems taught us things no textbook could teach.
That hands-on manufacturing experience transformed our understanding of product development. We experienced the midnight panic about tolerance issues, the tense conversations with suppliers, and the exhilaration of seeing the first production units
roll off the line.
Over the past decade, we've evolved from that garage operation to a 7,000 sq ft design and manufacturing facility with a team of 18 specialized professionals.

How we work with you

Working with onetwosix means you'll never again have to be the translator between design, engineering, and manufacturing. We speak all those languages fluently.

A woman is using a Cad program on a computer to look at dimensions of a product she is designing
Support in all aspects of design development.

You'll experience a development process with no mysterious gaps - from initial concept through to production-ready designs. No more wondering if your design can actually be manufactured or if your prototype can scale.

Two men inspect the internals of a mri machine
Extensive experience in bringing your ideas to life.

You'll work with a partner who understands both the technical and emotional aspects of product development, who recognizes the pressure you're under, and who has the practical experience to guide you through challenging manufacturing scenarios.
